Delivery mode

People complain about self-study—whether CD-ROM, CBT, or paper-based—saying it can be either boring (if the material is too obvious) or frustrating (if it is obscure). This is the hardest delivery system to design. Success factors include: building in mentoring and interactivity, catering to different learning styles, using creativity and humor, varying the delivery media (e.g., CBT, video, audio, paper), and building a training system that alternates self-study with interpersonal training.
